Quality Content for Public Radio Stations

Welcome to a weekly celebration of storytellers and the unsung heroes who bring our favorite books, podcasts, and narratives to life. This Week in Words goes beyond the page to explore the creative minds, editors, mentors, and moments of magic behind the stories we love. From bestselling novelists to emerging voices, from literary agents to bookshop dreamers—each episode is a journey into the heart of storytelling and the village that nurtures it. To bring the show to your listeners, write to Terry@TerryShepherd.com.

What’s in it for you?

This program was conceived as a meaningful addition to your schedule of quality public radio programming. The clock is designed to accommodate NPR News at the top of each hour with break points for local information and underwriting twice during the program. It is offered without charge as a small contribution to your stable of quality content.

When you program This Week in Words, you get powerful tools to help grow your member base:

  • A weekly deep dive into the writing craft, fiction and non-fiction, prose, poetry and the lyrics behind our favorite music… at no charge. Our program is free for your use on the air and as an addition to your podcast library.
  • A local outreach opportunity – Each week we invite a local bookstore, located in an affiliate’s market to join us for a book review. It’s a great promotional avenue for your station and your bookstore.
  • You get Terry. He first appeared on public radio and television in the 1970s during pledge periods and will be available:
    • To join your team virtually for on-air fundraising activities,
    • To create custom liners for your station and help you promote other programming with personalized promos.
    • Terry is also available to appear at in-market events, to host and interview local authors, and to speak about writing to schools and groups, while promoting your station. This Week in Words is designed to travel. We look forward to bringing the show to your venue.
